About the Caption Formatter

Paragraph spacing makes long captions easier to read, but text pasted into Instagram can lose its blank lines or pick up stray spaces. This formatter tidies the text and can insert a spacer character on empty lines so paragraphs stay separated after posting.

It can also pull hashtags out of the body and place them in one block at the end, and it shows the first 125 characters, which is roughly what people see before the "more" link in the feed.

How to use it

  1. Paste your caption into the box.
  2. Choose a blank-line style. The invisible spacer is the usual choice.
  3. Tick the clean-up options you want, then press Format caption.
  4. Copy the result into Instagram, then check how it looks in the app before publishing.

Tips for better results

  • Put your hook in the first line and your main point before the 125-character mark. That is the part most people see before "more".
  • If your caption is long, break it into short paragraphs with a spacer line between them. Dense blocks are harder to read on a phone.
  • After posting, view the caption on a phone and fix any odd gaps. Previews in different apps can vary slightly.

Example

With these inputs:

  • Your caption: New recipe today! Sourdough for beginners #sourdough #baking Save this for later.
  • Blank line style: Invisible spacer (keeps blank lines)
  • Trim spaces at line starts and ends: Yes
  • Reduce 3+ blank lines to one: Yes
  • Move hashtags to the end: Yes

the tool produces output like this:

New recipe today!
⠀
Sourdough for beginners
Save this for later.
⠀
#sourdough #baking

Who it is for

  • Keeping paragraph breaks from a notes app or document.
  • Moving a block of hashtags to the end of a caption.
  • Checking that the opening line works as a preview.

Limitations and accuracy

  • The invisible spacer is a Unicode character that some apps may show as empty space. If it looks wrong, use the dot option.
  • The 125-character preview is approximate and varies by device and layout.
  • We do not change the wording of your caption.

Frequently asked questions

Why do my line breaks disappear on Instagram?

Pasted text sometimes drops empty lines. A spacer character on the blank line keeps the gap.

Is the invisible spacer safe to use?

It is a normal Unicode character, but it counts as a character toward the 2,200 limit and may look different in some apps.

How many hashtags can a caption have?

Instagram allows up to 30. The formatter warns if you go over.

Does this change my wording?

No. It only changes spacing and the position of hashtags.
